Can someone explain how to use the diffuser on my hair dryer?

If you have one that looks kind of netted, then just put it over the top of the hair dryer and dry your hair with the dryer facing south, making the air flow downward.

If you have one that looks like a cone sort of, with the crosshatch shape where the air comes out, then hold the dryer north and pile your hair on top of the diffuser (can be from the side of your hair or the bottom, either works.)Can someone explain how to use the diffuser on my hair dryer?
I read this on an eHow article, diffusers are used for blowouts. If you dont know how to attatch it, its really easy, you just clip it into the end of your blow dryer. You want to use a paddle brush to get straight hair, or a round brush for voluminous.

1.) Wash hair, and put in leave-in conditioner or smoothing serum throughout wet hair.

2.)Clip hair up to top of head, dividing it into four sections. Start with the underneath layers.

3.) Blow dry your hair, and as you blow dry it, brush through your hair with the round or flat brush. Make sure you blow dry it as close as possible.

4.) Go through each section, and use the blue Cool Shot button for a blast of cool air once you're done. Brush through hair.

Hope I helped. =]Can someone explain how to use the diffuser on my hair dryer?
The way I was told is you put it on the end of the blow dryer (where the air comes out of) then you blow dry the same way as you normally do. All it claims to do different is to give more body but I am not so sure that is does.
