My house's water pipes have frozen in the cold and the recommended hair dryer isn't working. Any ideas?

Looking at days without water here, so your help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks. My house's water pipes have frozen in the cold and the recommended hair dryer isn't working. Any ideas?
Take this from me. I have great experience at this. Start at your taps and work your way backwards.

Take a warm cloth and run it over your pipe, starting near the tap, and work backwards. The Idea here is simple. After freeing one plug/clog, you do NOT need it running into, or reinforcing another down the line. Work backwards.

When running the warm, damp, cloth over the pipes, a plug is easily identifiable. While working backwards, free the clog with warm gentle air. Keep moving backward, using the same method, until you reach the entry point of the water itself.

This may take a bit of time, but the end result will elate you.My house's water pipes have frozen in the cold and the recommended hair dryer isn't working. Any ideas?
Where did you figure out the recommended method was to use a hair dryer? It isn't. Have you thought about what is going to happen if you get a water spurt that sprays all over the hair dryer while you are using it?

Use a heating pad or a blow torch which you use to gently heat the pipes. Best is a heating pad, you can get them from your local camping shop.
How long have you been trying? Are you sure you know where the frozen part is? Is there more than one frozen place? It can take longer than you might think to thaw pipes when it's really cold out. I wouldn't use an open flame of any kind in most places where pipes freeze. People who ought to know what they're doing, like plumbers, have set fire to houses using torches.
The best solution in heat wrap tape. That way you can heat large sections of the pipe. The problem with the hair dryer is that it can only heat one very small section of pipe at a time. You need to heat large sections. You can get the heat tape at your local hardware or building supply store.
if you have central heating put that on and keep it on low till this weather has gone other than that keep trying the hairdryer or even portable heaters
