How to unthaw frozen water pipes with a hair dryer?

Owns Pluming Co 30+ years

Set your hair dryer on high/high Hold close to all exposed water pipes . It may take up to 30 minutes per pipe but it will work. Using any flame on ';plastic'; pipes will melt them also many house fires have been started by a person trying to thaw pipes with a torch ! Open all faucets, also open all cabinets under the sinks. Aim any space heaters at your pipes or put them in the basement if you have one.How to unthaw frozen water pipes with a hair dryer?
You might be able to unthaw pipes with a Torch ,but a Hair dryer just does not put out enough heat the pipe is just to thick for that to work.

Wrap the pipe in the fist place, and if you have any water coming out at all just let run at a (trickle or small stream)! A wet Blanket with boiling water back and forth is going to work Better than a Hair dryer! Moving water is very hard to freeze!

Wrap the pipes tightly with the blanket and continue to with the boiling water or get a torch and stay away from gas, wood or anything else that could possable ignite!! Good luck!
